A Quick Look At Our Adoption Process!

Thank you for your interest in adopting one of our beloved animals, Let's dive in!

PLEASE NOTE!

Please be aware that, due to limited resources, we may be unable to personally contact everyone who applies.

You will receive a confirmation email when your application is submitted.

We receive a significant amount of email and direct message inquiries for updates on application status. Please note that dogs availability/adoptable status is always noted on their Instagram post. We will only consider homes who have submitted applications for the pet. We will not do meet and greets without an approved application.

As only one family can be chosen per dog, you'll be contacted if you're the right fit! To apply for more dogs, you may fill out an Application Update Form, but we may not be able to get back to each individual at this time.

3. APPROVAL

If approved, you will be contacted by a member of our team upon processing of your application. You will then be able to set a time to meet with our team, and your new animal, and pay the adoption fee which ranges from $500 to $700.

Please be aware that, due to limited resources, we may be unable to personally contact individuals whose applications do not meet our criteria.

2. ADOPTION FORM

We kindly urge you to provide us with as much detailed information as possible in your application. This will greatly assist us in ensuring a smooth, quick, and hassle-free approval process. We want to ensure that we are connecting these beautiful animals with the right home, considering their specific needs. As part of your application, we will require you to review all adoption documents, contracts, and complete a home check verification.

1. APPLICATION FEE

A non-refundable application fee of $20 is mandatory, and this amount will be redirected as a tax-deductible donation to our foundation.

Once your fee has been successfully processed, you will be automatically redirected to the adoption form. When filling out your application, please indicate whether you are applying for a single dog or if you would like to select additional backup options, as we often receive numerous applications for most dogs.

ADOPTION INFORMATION

If you're interested in adopting from us, you must submit an Adoption Application!

The form requires a non-refundable application fee and we ask you to be as specific as possible in your answers to our screening questions.

We select the most viable home for our dogs and do not have a waitlist. We will continue to accept and process applications until the most suitable home is found. We also encourage you to submit a free adoption update form if you ever see any other animals that catch your heart. Due to our limited resources and life saving efforts, we are unable to provide every individual with a personal update if they are not selected for a specific animal.

If you're selected as a viable potential candidate, the next step is a home inspection. Once both the application and home check are approved, we will proceed to arrange meet-and-greet sessions between the adopters and foster, with the possibility of an interview with one of our team members, depending on the dog's breed and characteristics.

Upon the successful completion of these steps, you will be asked to sign an Adoption Contract and remit the non-refundable adoption fee which varies by dog.

*Please note: If you intend to adopt at an adoption event, it is essential and required to have a pre-approved application and a video of your home check in advance.

To make your application stand out as the top choice, it's vital to complete it with meticulous attention to detail.

Ensure you provide comprehensive information, including your breed, size, and age preferences, even if you have a specific dog in mind. Demonstrating your commitment to the adoption process is crucial, benefiting both your time and ours. Additionally, explain your current eagerness to adopt a dog and how your life and home are well-suited for a furry companion. Describe your plans for exceptional pet care and any prior experience with dogs.

Collaboration with family members or other household members is important. Discuss and establish a consistent approach to dog training, covering topics like potty training, rewards, and discipline. Be ready to share these agreements in your application.

Consider potential challenges that may arise during your journey as a dog owner. Reflect on circumstances that could lead to returning your dog and clarify which challenges you are willing to work on and what would be a deal-breaker for you.

Research your chosen veterinarian and the diet you plan to provide for your pet. Explain your selections, emphasizing the quality of life you intend to offer your dog. Outline your strategies for addressing behavioral issues and obedience training. Determine whether you have the qualifications to manage training yourself or if you plan to send the pup for professional training.

Ultimately, the more comprehensive and well-prepared your application is, the better.

We appreciate applicants who have thoroughly considered the responsibilities of dog ownership and have strategies in place for various situations, demonstrating their dedication to providing the best possible home for their future four-legged family member.

The adoption fees at The Labelle Foundation are as follows unless otherwise specified.

  • $700 for puppies

  • $500 for adult dogs

  • $250 for Cats (Although rare, yes! We have adopted out several cats. Including, one to the team during the building of this website!)

These fees encompass the cost of up-to-date vaccines, spaying/neutering, and microchipping. If you're adopting from a location outside of Los Angeles, please note that you will be responsible for the expenses associated with traveling to LA.

It's important to be aware that our coverage for spaying/neutering is limited to our veterinarians in Los Angeles. Any additional medical expenses and remaining vaccine costs are not included in the adoption fee and will be the responsibility of the adopter.

A meet-and-greet offers you the chance to meet the dog in person and assess whether a connection is established. These sessions usually last between 30 minutes to an hour, and they are particularly beneficial if you have another pet for them to interact with. Some people choose to finalize the adoption right after the meet-and-greet, completing the payment and contract paperwork immediately, while others prefer to arrange a separate pick-up date following the initial introduction.

Our top priority is to establish a safe and nurturing environment for all our animals, adapting our standards to accommodate the specific needs of each animal, taking into account their breed and age. Our ultimate objective is to guarantee the secure confinement of dogs, protecting them from any possible dangers, such as hazardous chemicals or loose wires. In situations where we identify potential risks, we may postpone the dog's transition to its new home until those hazards have been addressed and rectified.

We make diligent efforts to reach out to approved adopters who have applied for a specific dog within a 2-week timeframe from their application submission. Regrettably, we are currently unable to contact applicants whose applications have been denied as we have limited resources. While we strive to establish more efficient communication systems to reach all applicants, we are not able to achieve this goal at present.

You can discover our available dogs by following our Instagram account, @thelabellefoundation. We regularly update our posts as dogs find their forever homes. Additionally, we show a curated selection of dogs ready for adoption here.

Falling in love with our foster pups is truly heartwarming! However, it's important to note that first-time fosters are not eligible for adoption.

The primary goal of fostering is to save lives and contribute to our rescue community. If you're considering adopting, please inform your foster coordinator within 72 hours. We appreciate your interest in providing a permanent home for our furry friends.

All foster parents are required to follow our standard application process. This ensures that we can find the most suitable forever homes for our dogs. While we appreciate your enthusiasm in helping these pups, kindly refrain from seeking adopters for your foster pup. The responsibility for adoption lies with the Labelle Foundation. Friends and family members who wish to adopt must also apply and go through the same approval process as any other applicant.

Thank you for your dedication to our mission!
